Early in his medical journey, Dr. Mayuga pursued further specialization abroad, undergoing intensive training in Germany and Saudi Arabia. There, he deepened his expertise in perinatal and cardiovascular anesthesia—fields that demand precision, skill, and unwavering dedication. His global training has enriched his approach to patient care and positioned him as a key figure in advancing anesthesiology practices in the Philippines.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mayuga has held prominent leadership positions that reflect his commitment to professional development and advocacy for safe, quality anesthesia care. He served as President of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia of the Philippines from 2014 to 2015 and currently holds the presidency of the Philippine Society of Anesthesiologists for 2025. At the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Dr. Mayuga has been instrumental in improving patient outcomes through his work in both clinical and administrative capacities. He championed the development and implementation of pre-anesthesia clinics—an initiative that has significantly improved perioperative safety and preparedness across various surgical disciplines.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Mayuga further strengthened his capacity as a healthcare administrator by earning a Master in Hospital Administration from Ateneo de Manila University.
