Manila Central University proudly welcomed Mr. Mark Norman S. Boquiren, a distinguished alumnus of the Basic Education Department, Batch 2005, as the Guest Speaker during the Senior High School Commencement Exercises.
A respected educator, creative writer, cultural worker, theater practitioner, and youth empowerment advocate, Mr. Boquiren shared valuable insights with the graduating class, encouraging them to embrace lifelong learning, pursue their passions with purpose, and remain steadfast in overcoming challenges as they embark on their next chapter.
Mr. Boquiren currently serves as a College Instructor and Senior High School Teacher at Manila Tytana Colleges and has also taught at the Ateneo de Manila University Senior High School. Beyond the classroom, he is recognized for his extensive contributions to Philippine arts and culture as the Drama Director of the University of the East Drama Company, playwright, screenwriter, documentarist, and literary mentor.
His accomplishments in literature and the arts have earned him numerous recognitions, including the First Prize in the 2022 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (Filipino Division – Maikling Kuwentong Pambata) and the Outstanding Citizen Award – Special Award in Literature during the 62nd Caloocan Cityhood Anniversary. He is also the author of several acclaimed children’s books and literary works that continue to inspire young readers and aspiring writers.
Throughout his career, Mr. Boquiren has remained committed to education, creativity, and community engagement. His journey from being a Centralino student to becoming an accomplished educator and cultural advocate serves as a testament to the transformative power of passion, perseverance, and service.
As he stood before the graduating students, Mr. Boquiren represented the very values that Manila Central University seeks to instill in its learners—excellence, leadership, creativity, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact on society.
The MCU community takes pride in celebrating the achievements of Mr. Boquiren and thanks him for returning to his alma mater to inspire the next generation of Centralinos. His story reminds us that success is not only measured by accomplishments, but also by one’s willingness to uplift others and give back to the community that helped shape their journey.
