Ms. Treveris Izar – Begalman, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, known as Nurse Ivy to her patients and colleagues, has demonstrated unwavering dedication and leadership in the nursing field since her time at Manila Central University (MCU). During her years at MCU, she served as a leader of the College of Nursing Student Council for four consecutive years and contributed to the university’s paper, The Pharos. Upon earning her BSN in 1998, Ms. Begalman was recognized with the university’s Leadership Award.
Ms. Begalman attributes her nursing career achievements to her resilience and tenacity. Despite facing challenges, she never gave up and persevered, a quality she is proud of. Early in her career, she volunteered for Operation Smile Philippines, participating in local and international medical missions. This experience allowed her to give back to the community while honing her nursing skills and connecting with fellow volunteers globally.
Her nursing journey has taken her from working as a pre- and post-operative nurse during medical missions to roles as a medical and surgical nurse in Connecticut and Tennessee, USA. However, it was her transition to emergency room nursing in Las Vegas, NV, specializing in trauma and emergency care, that became the highlight of her 20+ year career. While balancing family life and her demanding ER work, Ms. Begalman completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs in 2017, focusing on the Family Nurse Practitioner track. During her graduate studies, she was inducted into the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Today, Nurse Ivy is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, providing primary care in Las Vegas. At this stage in her career, she continues to explore specialties in Rheumatology and Endocrinology, with a goal to innovate and elevate nursing through evidence-based care and quality service. Despite her many accomplishments, Nurse Ivy remains committed to furthering her impact on her community and the nursing profession.
