Guided for Greatness: Dentistry Students Dive into GBT with Swiss Dental Academy

  • Post last modified:June 26, 2025

Last Monday, June 23, twenty-eight(28) 5th-year Dentistry students from Manila Central University had the valuable opportunity to participate in a specialized training session conducted by the Swiss Dental Academy, in partnership with St. Patrick’s Medical Systems Inc.

The training focused on Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)—a modern, evidence-based approach to dental prophylaxis that emphasizes patient comfort and clinical effectiveness. Students gained in-depth knowledge on the science and application of the EMS AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master, a state-of-the-art technology designed to remove biofilm in a minimally invasive and highly efficient manner.

Adding to the pride of the event, one of the facilitators was Mr. Crisanto Santos, a distinguished MCU alumnus and 2007 graduate of the Certificate in Dental Hygiene program. His participation not only demonstrated the success of our alumni but also served as an inspiration to our current students pursuing careers in dental care and innovation.

This meaningful collaboration provided an excellent platform for our future dental professionals to experience cutting-edge practices and interact with experts in the field—further reinforcing MCU’s commitment to hands-on, globally aligned education.
