The Manila Central University community takes immense pride in celebrating the outstanding achievement of Ms. Charito De Guzman Alba, BS Nursing, Batch 2004 – a Centralino whose journey in the nursing profession embodies dedication, compassion, and global excellence.
During her graduation at MCU in 2004, Ms. Alba was bestowed the Nightingale Award, one of the highest honors given to a nursing student. This recognition symbolized not just her academic accomplishments, but her innate qualities of empathy, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to patient care—values deeply rooted in the teachings and culture of MCU’s College of Nursing.
Two decades later, those same values continue to define her career. Now serving as an Assistant Nurse Clinician at the National University Health System (NUHS) in Singapore, Ms. Alba’s professional path reflects years of dedication, resilience, and a passion for improving the lives of patients. Her tireless service and exemplary leadership have once again been recognized—this time on an international stage—as she received the Nightingale Award from NUHS.
The Nightingale Award is one of the most prestigious honors within NUHS, presented annually during the NUHS Nurses’ Day Award Ceremony. It acknowledges nurses across its institutions—including the National University Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, and others—who have demonstrated exceptional clinical expertise, leadership, and community service, embodying the values and spirit of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
For Ms. Alba, this recognition marks a rare and remarkable achievement—being honored with the Nightingale Award both as a student and as a seasoned professional. Her story is a testament to the enduring impact of an MCU education, and proof that the values instilled at our university empower graduates to shine anywhere in the world.
💐 Congratulations, Nurse Charito Alba! Your achievements inspire not only the MCU community, but nurses and healthcare professionals across the globe. You remind us all that once a Nightingale, always a Nightingale.
