Manila Central University proudly announces the awarding of a 4-year Doctor of Medicine Scholarship to Maharanee Ceejay Lucas, an aspiring physician whose determination and passion for service shine brightly. With this support, Ms. Lucas is now one step closer to realizing her dream of becoming a doctor who will serve with compassion, excellence, and integrity.
This life-changing opportunity was made possible through the generosity of Dr. Richard Chang, a distinguished alumnus of the MCU College of Medicine Batch 1999. Dr. Chang’s commitment to giving back reflects not only his gratitude to his alma mater but also his deep belief in the power of education to transform lives and communities.
“I feel truly blessed. God has given me so many opportunities through my career, and I will always be grateful that my medical journey began at MCU. The education and training I received at MCU gave me the solid foundation to compete, excel, and succeed in the United States in both residency and fellowship. The academic curriculum at MCU truly prepares its graduates to be globally competitive. This scholarship is just a small contribution on my part, but I am happy to see CJ given the opportunity to pursue international training. I am confident that with the support of the MCU alumni community, especially in the US, she will find great success,” shared Dr. Chang.
Ms. Lucas, deeply moved by this gift, expressed her gratitude:
“This is the first scholarship I have ever received, and I am beyond grateful. As the recipient of your kindness, I will do my best to excel in my studies and carry this success forward for the benefit of others.”
The University extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Chang for his unwavering support and for embodying the spirit of service that MCU instills in its graduates. His generosity stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding the Centralino community that when one gives back, countless doors open for those who follow.
We also extend our warmest congratulations to Ms. Lucas on this remarkable milestone. Her journey as a scholar symbolizes the promise of the next generation of physicians who will carry forward the MCU tradition of excellence in healthcare and service to humanity.
This moment is more than just the awarding of a scholarship – it is a celebration of shared values, collective responsibility, and the enduring bond between MCU and its alumni. May it inspire the wider alumni community to create similar opportunities, uplifting future Centralinos and strengthening the culture of giving back to the University.
