Manila Central University proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of its College of Optometry alumni who were recently recognized at the 13th Excellence and Distinction (EXCeeD) Awards 2026 organized by the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA).
The EXCeeD Awards recognize exemplary professionals across various disciplines who demonstrate excellence, leadership, and meaningful service to their professions and communities. This year, three distinguished Centralino optometrists were honored for their remarkable contributions in research, public service, and specialized clinical practice—bringing pride and honor to the MCU community.
Dr. Donnie Y. Saludes (Batch 2006)
Distinction Award – Applied Research and Development Category
Dr. Saludes, who currently serves as Vice Dean of the MCU College of Optometry, received the Distinction Award in the Applied Research and Development category for his meaningful contributions to advancing knowledge and strengthening evidence-based practice in optometry.
Through his dedication to research and innovation, Dr. Saludes continues to promote scientific inquiry and develop initiatives that enhance both professional practice and community eye health.
Hon. Christine S. Rodriguez (Batch 1990)
Distinction Award – Government Service Category
Hon. Christine S. Rodriguez was recognized for her exemplary leadership and commitment to public service. Her work in government reflects her dedication to policy development, professional regulation, and initiatives that help strengthen professional standards and governance in the Philippines.
Her recognition highlights the vital role of optometry professionals in shaping policies that support healthcare systems and professional advancement.
Dr. Marilyn Joy Lim-Eustaquio (Batch 1998)
Distinction Award – Private Specialized Practice Category
Dr. Marilyn Joy Lim-Eustaquio was honored for her excellence in specialized clinical practice in Low Vision care. Her work demonstrates exceptional competence, compassion, and innovation in delivering patient-centered care to individuals with visual impairment.
Her dedication to this specialized field has helped improve the quality of life for many patients through advanced clinical practice and compassionate service.
